KMB has a long history of service to local community college, South Puget Sound. We have completed many projects for the college and continue to work together. Through our work with SPSCC, we have helped increase educational opportunities for our community, helping students begin their careers and achieve their dreams.

We are proud to be involved in several major projects which will help the college expand, offer specialized educational programs and improve student life on campus. Through a series of projects spanning over the last 5 years, KMB architects has worked with the College to develop a new SPSCC campus in Lacey, Washington. This second campus location expands the Colleges of Business and Manufacturing Technology. The additional space allows the campus to offer new and innovative educational programs and give students the flexibility to complete their education at whichever location is most convenient.

KMB is currently working with the College to develop a budget request for the 2021-2023 biennium to build a new academic facility which expand Business and IT programs and allow space for new innovative programs including cyber security and visual arts. We are also working projects to expand and improve the main campus, including renovation of the former library into educational space and renovation and expansion of the existing gym into a Health and Wellness center to improve student life.

These individuals have far exceeded our expectations, and are irreplaceable members of our team. The skills they bring from their South Puget Sound experience and their passion for lifelong learning is unparalleled. SPSCC alum Michaela Kleinhans is working with her former faculty as part of the Lacey Building 2 renovation – using the skills she learned in the program to give back to her community and future peers.

In addition, students graduating from the CAD/BIM program have the opportunity to continue learning in the architecture field and pursue their architecture license while working in the industry. We are currently in the process of mentoring several community college graduates through the Intern Development Program.

KMB has been a proud supporter of South Puget Sound Community College for over a decade and is committed to providing the college with opportunities for student success. Our firms Principals have taught architectural courses at SPSCC, and have collaborated with the College to develop curriculum which responds to the industry’s needs. We are committed to investing in the local community and building the workforce of tomorrow, together.

We continue to be impressed by the quality of students coming from SPSCC, and are excited to help educate and inspire those who might someday work for KMB.
